"Microsoft UK has announced, via Twitter, a "special event" on October 5th in London for developers in which the company will talk about "Windows Azure, Windows 7 and the soon-to-be-released Windows Phone 7 and IE9". Interestingly Steve Ballmer will introduce the opening keynote for the special event and it will be held in the large International Conference Centre (the G20 was held there last year and Microsoft has used the venue before)."

System software update puts pay to cracked game shenanigans

The world's biggest mobile fair will host its first event for Apple developers next year in a sign of Apple's huge influence over the industry, even though the company itself has never participated in the show.

Sony has quietly released a firmware update to the PlayStation 3 that, according to initial reports, blocks the now-infamous PSJailbreak exploit that enabled users to copy games to local storage devices and run home-brew applications on their game consoles. Sony is offering no specific information about the update, saying only that it “includes additional security features.”

So far, getting a webOS device off a provider usually required you to buy it OTC or get a 24month contract. Even though I understand that this rule is sensible to a large extent, sometimes getting a device on a prepaid contract can be handy.
